Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Enterprise Applications, is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of all enterprise-level applications within the organization. As the Director, you will drive the alignment of applications with the organization's overall business strategy and clinical goals. You will lead a team of IT professionals, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensure the effective utilization of enterprise applications to optimize patient care, enhance operational efficiency, and support the achievement of organizational goals. This highly visible position significantly impacts United Urology Group's objectives and must follow our core values, such as integrity, teamwork, and excellence.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: In partnership with the CIO, build our enterprise architecture to create and protect business value. Collaborate extensively with IT leaders and leaders in other departments to spearhead system transformation initiatives aimed at growing Affiliated practices organically and through acquisitions. Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise applications roadmap that aligns with the organization's overall business strategy. Identify and prioritize key technology initiatives to drive operational efficiency, physician productivity, and exceptional patient experience.
  • Application Management: Accountable for the entire lifecycle of enterprise applications, including selection, implementation, integration, customization, and ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance and user experience. Specific tasks will often involve assessing needs, determining the most effective approach (build v buy), defining the solution architecture (as appropriate), and establishing project plans with timelines, estimates costs, and resource requirements. This must all be done with particular attention to meeting business needs, adhering to industry standards, and complying with relevant regulations such as HIPAA security and privacy.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performance team of five IT professionals and several contractors, including application analysts, administrators, and support staff. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across departments, including heads of clinical, operations, finance, revenue cycle, legal, and other departments to understand their needs and align technology solutions accordingly. Collaborate on the development of IT roadmaps, project plans, and resource allocation strategies with PMO, Infrastructure, BI, and Support.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and solutions. Accountable for negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with agreed service levels to support our clinicians and leaders across the organization.
  • Governance and Compliance: Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for IT enterprise applications, ensuring compliance with security protocols, data privacy regulations, and industry best practices. Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the $8 million IT Enterprise Applications budget, monitoring expenses, and optimizing resource allocation. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on project statuses, key performance indicators, and financial metrics.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience with significant systems implementations, deploying, and supporting enterprise information technology with at least three years in a supervisory role or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing decision-makers across an organization, demonstrating refined skills in gaining executive or physician buy-in and long-term support or sponsorship.
  • Commitment to client service with the ability to set and manage client expectations.
  • Knowledge and experience with project management governance processes and functions.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to investigate complex issues and make informed decisions when written guidelines are unavailable.
  • Ability to analyze business data and procedures. Working knowledge of process methodologies for process design, implementation, and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience working with business/functional organizations.
  • Strong/excellent oral and written communication skills, including composing and presenting business and technical material to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks/assignments at one time.
  • Strong willingness to learn new technologies and lead change.
  • Knowledge and use of project portfolio/management software tools.
  • Can both lead and perform hands-on work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field.
  • Extensive (5 years) relevant professional experience in physician practice management.
  • Experience implementing NetSuite, Allscripts, and major enterprise systems.
  • Experience building enterprise architectures.
  • Experience supervising in a matrix organization.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma.

Tech Requirements for the Job:

  • High-speed, reliable internet connection to ensure uninterrupted communication and access to necessary systems and tools.
  • Quiet and private work environment to maintain the confidentiality of patient information and minimize background noise during calls.
  • Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools, such as video conferencing software, instant messaging platforms, and customer relationship management systems.
  • Compliance with all security and privacy policies and protocols, including safeguarding patient information and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

  • Applications Specialists/Analysts.
  • Clinical Systems Managers/Analysts.
  • Technology Support Vendors (e.g., Allscripts, Crowe, NetSuite).

Travel:

  • Must have the ability & willingness to travel (25%) to other sites as necessary within the US.

Physical Requirements for the Job:

  • Able to sit, stand, and or walk throughout the day.
  • Intermittently required to stoop, bend, speak, and listen.
